Sony has announced that the beginning of July is going to see its waterproof mobile offering expand like a damp sponge to include the stunning Tablet Z.

Following on the heels of the flagship Xperia Z smartphone, the Tablet Z is the slimmest 10.1-inch LTE tablet available today.

The Tablet Z is Android based, is also the first tablet to run on Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro asynchronous quad core processor and features a flat, slim 6.9mm body full of OmniBalance design.

It’s water resistant, immune to splashes and spills though they don’t mention anything about “metres”. Still, if you have to think about if your tablet will survive under anything more than a few mm’s of water, then you’re clearly in the wrong environment.

Sony haven’t been shy with flexing their camera muscles either, sticking in a standard 8MP rear camera with Exmor R for mobile tech and a 2MP front facing camera. NFC is included and it ships with Android 4.1, upgradable after launch.

Let’s get gawking…
