Robbie Madison creates motorbike that skims on top of water. Then surfs a wave with it!

It’s taken him two years and a lot of staring “it’s impossible dude”-ers in the face, but finally, pro Motorcross racer turned stuntman turned most gnarly dude in the world Robbie Madison has done it: he’s ridden his motorbike on water. And if that wasn’t enough, he decided, while he was treading liquid to ride in and surf the world famous Teahuo’po wave in Tahiti.

Watch this:

Trsnaworld was there to watch the entire making and before and after and it’s really worth a read. Check it here

Martin Jetpack makes personal flight a possibility

Although it’s taken them 34 years to get it off the ground (get it?), FINALLY the Martin Jetpack personal flyer or whatever you wanna call it is a reality.

Hailing from New Zealand (no shit!), the creators have built their jetpack out of carbon fibre and aluminum alloys making it light weight enough to fly in tight spaces and remain easily maneuverable. More maneuverable than a helicopter anyway. Good thing this since one of their main target markets is the emergency responder market and government agencies. Imagine getting chased down the M1 North by a Metro cop on one of these. Bril.

(WARNING: the vid is a bit long in the tooth)

The vehicle itself is powered by a 200 hp V4 petrol engine that drives two fans for up to 30 minutes of flight time. Top speed is 74 km/h and you’ll be able to go as high as 1km in the air.

Take off and landing happens straight up and down and pilot qualifications are said to be easily attainable. The way I see it, this is just another means of Bashar al-Assad to skip out of South African airspace unarrested.

Control is reported to be a breeze thanks to the ‘fly by wire’ system which is straightfoward to operate and comes with its own ballistic parachute system. I should bloody hope so when you consider the price of the bloody thing.

OwnPhones. They’ll 3D print a set of in-ear buds custom, for you. (@OwnPhones)

aaa

OwnPhones are the world’s first custom-fit, 3D printed earbuds. You take a picture of your ear, send it in to them and they send you back a customized pair of Bluetooth enabled, technology overflowing, in-ear buds.

BRILLIANT! And this could be the last word and solution to irritating, bad-fitting workout headphones.

They have an app that you use to take a picture of your ear. After a few tweaks, your phones camera becomes a 3D scanner resulting in a 3D picture that they can then use to create a 3D printed set of headphones that will fit your ears perfectly. They guarantee that they won’t wiggle or move as you run or dance or do whatever it is you do when listening to the Backstreet Boys Best of but tell everyone you’re listening to Snoop Dogg.

Technology-wise the OwnPhones make use of Bluetooth 4.0, they’re wireless and a built-in digital signal processor which can filter ambient noises. They call it SoundScaping and the feature lowers environmental noises like noisy traffic or a crowded restaurant. More importantly,  and we’ve all been here, you can use the app to let through requested sounds like an alarm clock beeping or a friends voice. No more embarrassing “zone-outs” that end with your mate clicking their fingers in front of your face or slapping you upside the head.

Little add-ons like a red light flashing telling people to not disturb or a green light to tell them to butt in are nice but I think a little gimmicky and like the headphone equivalent of sitting at dinner with your family and surfing Instagram on your phone. Come on. What are you listening to that’s so important I can’t interrupt you?

Customization continues to what they look like. Here are some examples:

They’re already fully funded on Kickstarter, so expect to see them on the market soon.

Ultraskiff 360: a totally innovative and personal watercraft

Word has reached me that there are a few avid fisherman who follow the blog. Who knew?!?
So here’s one special for you. Aside from being one of the most ingenious products I’ve seen in a long while, the video also had one of the most soothing soundtracks since Morgan Freeman took up reading children’s stories. Kinda makes me realise why you guys do it.

The Ultraskiff 360 is a completely new and totally innovative personal watercraft designed for fisherman, hunters and other randoms who just want to float about and drink beer on an open body of water.

Straight off the bat, the Ultraskiff is impressive simply for all of the storage space and convenience factors that it includes. It has 3 large utility storage compartments (one you can even put live bait in), a drainage system (which I realise is important so you don’t drown), a tow rig (so you have something you can make extreme videos for Youtube with), cup holders (for your beer) and rod holders for your, um…rods.

They’ve also included a seriously versatile and customisable pedestal mount for the seat and the entire thing is maneuverable and movable by one human on his own. Granted it’s not the most attractive thing in the world, but if Nutella and Stephen Hawking have taught us anything, it’s that a lot of the best things in life aren’t the best looking.

Great gadget. Great video. On sale soon.

Ken Block’s been in Russia ruining ppls holidays and just being all round destructive

ken-block-russia4

Bored of the predictability and safety of the abandoned airfields he’s used to, Ken Block has made his way to Russia for his latest video offering.

Don’t worry, the expected overabundance of drifts and slides, near misses and big jumps is present, along with a very imaginative dub step soundtrack and he has more cameras focused on him than Paris Hilton getting out of a car at a lingerie launch.

Enjoy!

Flyboard: the powered wakeboard extreme sport NEW GADGET

999820-flyboard

Well the extreme sport and Jackass videos will follow shortly no doubt.

Using a concept that we’re not unfamiliar with (but won’t mention here), the Flyboard is explained as a jet powered wakeboard that lets you fly like a bird or swim like a dolphin. And as the video below shows, that’s not a bad description. NOTE: hot girls on surfboards perving at you while you fly are not included in the price.

As I can understand it from the pretty non-descript PR bumpf, the Flyboard is connected to a jetski which gives you 90% of your propulsion. The other 10% goes to the hand jets which give you just enough thrust to direct yourself where you want to go. 20 minutes, and they say you’ll be mermaid-ing through the air.

Sony to take on Go Pro with their new sports camera

actioncamera1-488x370

Well we don’t know much at the moment, but what we do know is that Go Pro’s reign as the king of extreme sports video capture will soon be questioned by one of the world’s biggest electronics makers, Sony.

Not many specs have been released on the HD wearable video camera, but it is certain to include:
SteadyShot image stabilization technology
Exmor R CMOS image sensor
Ultra-wide angle Carl Zeiss Tessar lens

I look forward to sharing with you the endless videos of people falling off of mountains and crashing into things that this camera will bring.
