French car makers Peugeot have teamed up with some Dutch designers to rethink the material that a traditional car is made out of. The result is the magnificent looking Onyx concept car.

The entire interior of the Onyx car has been re-thunk using materials that are not typically found inside a vehicle. Recycled newspaper, wood, carbon and wool are found inside, and they’ve gone as far as constructing the fuel gauge out of blown glass.

The exterior also has some uniqueness, the wings and doors being made from pure copper sheets while the bulk of the car is brushed with matte black carbon fibre.

Driving the innovation around is a 445kw, 3.7-litre V8 hybrid engine which uses a KERS system to store kinetic energy lost during braking in lithium-ion batteries. This adds up to an additional 60kw when needed.

First look at the Paris Motor show at September end.
