Alfa Romeo have announced that their breath-taking, exotic, hot-exchange-student-in-the-back-row is coming to live in South Africa. A few important notes: at R870 000 it’s not cheap but also not really expensive and there will only be 3 500 produced per year.

First reaction was: “So they ARE still making cars!!!”, but Alfa Romeo are doing more than that, they’re promising a full on comeback with the help of their big Italian brother, Maserati.

The Alfa Romeo 4C is being made at the Maserati plant in Modena, and the Italian tradition of stunning lines, unforgettable 1st impression and an all-round beautiful car that you’re going to want to stay in front of just so you can perve at it, continues.

Look at these lines.

The Alfa Romeo 4C strives to be an affordable Italian sports car (swear words in most Italian regions) and the specs seem to suggest that Alfa have nailed it.

First off, the Alfa Romeo 4C weighs only 895kg, making it one of the lightest cars in the world, and it’s pushed around the tar by their 1750 Turbo petrol engine (177kw). The noticeable weight loss has been achieved by including a combo of aluminium, steel, carbon fibre and sheet moulding compound technology as well as thinner glass on the windows.

The first Alfa Romeo 4Cs will arrive in SA at the end of this year in a limited Launch Edition which will include carbon fibre on the front air intake, rear spoiler headlamps, mirror covers, instrument cluster cover, darker alloy wheels and red brake callipers.

All that for R870 000 and you get a 3-year/100 000km warranty and maintenance plan.

Next year the normal cars arrive.

SPECS:
0-100 = 4.5 seconds
Top Speed = 258km/h
Fuel Consumption = They don’t say in the press release (but it “falls well within the strict limits of Euro 6)…GOD I LOVE THE ITALIANS
Price = R870 000

Here it is taking on the mighty Nurburgring.
